Blog Post #12

My relationship with technology may be different than others, but for me for my friends and family technology is always around theres always a device that's helping you.For example GPS, Chat GPT, AI, etc.If technology would vanish for the foreseeable future  I don't know were my life would go, my whole life is technology 98% of the time i'm using my phone and the other half i'm on my other devices. There are other devices like our laptops, I Pads, phones, etc. we all have access to the internet, there are many nights were i'm on my phone for more than an hour then when I look at my screen time iv'e already spent 4 hours on TikTok scrolling back and forth while getting messages and notifications that force's me to be on the phone when I don't need to and I could be doing homework or studying even hanging out with friends. As a women in todays digital generation, I have noticed and come to realize that privacy and online access is a scary and has become a digital prison for users of my generation. It's bad enough women don't feel safe and secure in the real world but especially in the digital world you don't know who is behind the screen. It's known that we grew up with technology and were so keen on documenting our personal lives to make sure our followers know what were up to every second of every day. According to the articleThe Privacy Divide entertains the story of how our collective privacy problem is not our fault, for example  google is keeping and eye on what we buy and keeping track of the ambitions transactions and purchases. It's causing a rift to the digital world leaving users to leave the ad industry because the data was tracking them and it was terrifying them.

Technology has it's advantages and disadvantages for disadvantages privacy is a huge, on your location is being tracked everywhere you go. Along with cyber risk your account can be hacked as well as your identity can be stolen if your not careful enough along with you person information, ex: your credit cards phone number etc. There are many advantages though your saving time if you have a difficult question and can't figure it out ask google or siri. you never have to go to the store in person you can online shop as well as pick up your order from the grocery store in the parking lot without even getting out of the car.

Have you ever thought of your online privacy do you ever wonder why the internet is tracking you and whys it saves your personal information, before even logging in your account it's already there. If I were you I would take into personal consideration of your password all the way down to your location. The Article I'm 14 And I Quit Social Media this story is a perfect example to you because you can't trust your family members, parents post pictures and videos on their social media accounts normally it's going to be facebook so their extended family and friends can see and share the post as well. it's sad hearing a little girl just turning thirteen starting to show her online public appearance and she already fell so insecure and hated on being laughed at by the tweets and post of her seeing hundreds of pictures that will never be taken off the internet,Because once you post something on the internet it will never go away.

When your online you must take into consideration especially my generation and the younger generation because, they grew up with TikTok and all the other social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. How much of a  personal impact of our online footprints do you want to leave as an individual? We all want to make an impact as much as the digital world but that doesn't mean that we can have our privacy and online photos and videos leaked on the internet or the government is stealing our personal information.  This article is discussing the story of the The Privacy Divide and how the ad industry has been  becoming a tracing device, and why it has terrified the employees to leave the industry. According to I Left The Ad Industry " she left the house at 7 a.m. went to Starbucks went to school, went to yoga went back to school she was a mother with at least one child and knew where she lived"I Left The Ad Industry They knew were she was living because the phone was tracking every minute and move and the location she made from the phone calls as well as knowing what phone the pocket was in. Knowing our surrounding's in this generation because were so hooked on every moment of information we collect like our news than watching the actual news or finding out from newspaper.

Anti War

Anti War voices and actions  are hard to come by and find throughout the main stream of media and society luckily this week I came across two article websites ANTIWAR.Com and The American Conservative. By looking side by side both sites and writers show strong cases and voices towards there line of work, they both equally show how the military and political standpoints are a massive representation. It's very odd due to the fact that the political news and the media have strong standpoints and viewpoints to take away from. With having a strong standpoint the mainstream of media is rapidly posting and showing how the massive corporation's their apart of, with the access and connection they have. It can make the corporations and connections that are gaining and benefiting from the war, then why are they using their voices to promote the spending of military money on the rich mans war.

The Vietnam war was a huge impact what's interesting is how are the democrats and republicans sharing their voices and their sides from the both parties The Hill" The New Isolations Republicans are taking a page from the old anti democrats". The U.S. involvement has a tremendous impact in our society from the military both parties are choosing to speak their voice but why. Theses websites have a clear and understanding standpoint upon why anti war and both parties speak their minds, at the end of the day were all one nation.

EOTO 2 Media and Consolidation

Media Consolidation is the consequence of the media's consolidation that may seem harmful to the democracy. The content that is being distributed to the public is covering the importance of the issue that can become a biased opinion later on. The media can lead to the increase of a market power of companies out of it's own media outlets, that can result in ah higher price for the consumers. The media is affecting segments differently in our society due to the "Media consolidation shuts out women and minorities" Mediaissues. Meaning minorities make up 33% of the entire population. the level of female and minority ownership make an advanced in other industries like, the broadcast sector in the 1990's and worsened the broadcast sector.

According to to Free Press"Hispanic or Latino owned stations reaching 21.8% of the Latino TV in household, in the united states" theres going to be tv household reaching African Americans but they don't reach them by black owned tv stations"Free Press. Tv network Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, Youtube Tv, Peacock, and Disney Plus. Disney Plus is a very popular streaming network dedicated for the younger generation to watch cartoons and shows. It's a popular source that is creating memories for families and friends to have a family friendly stories, that can shape a child's imagination. Disney is bringing the media and companies a large amount of size of what's being added to their streaming sites. According to the Media Issues" Disney is a prime example of the issues with media convergence". The article discusses how Disney Plus is buying up media as they own multiple large move franchises and have stock or ownership of twelve television channels. Disney is collaborating and taking away other streaming content from HBO Max ,Netflix, and Hulu, creating a massive streaming source that will fight against a competitor and the stock they have invested.

Media Consolidation reflects with Free Press "The pressure of consolidation and concentration brought on by bad policy decisions have crowded out women and minority owners". The FCC can't even accurately account for the current state of media ownership".Hulu, Netflix , YoutubeTV, Peacock, and Disney Plus have expanded tremendously throughout they years. Everyone that has a phone has either access to the internet and are able to log in these streaming sites. Media consolidation is the main prior consequence of the media's consolidation to the democracy.

The content that is being distributed to he public is covering the importance of an issue that can become biased later. The media can lead to the increase of a market power of companies out of its's own media outlets. that can result in a higher price for consumers. As well as the negative effects of how media consolidation is taking a negative effect on our mental health regarding depression, insecurity, anxiety ,low self esteem. These are important factors that are taking place in our generations and so on so forth the media in television has been around for decades it's time we start knowing what's happening.

Age of AI Blog #5

The age of AI as we all know AI has been become most popular from the past recent years AI is a computer generated technology that stimulates human learning comprehension from problem solving to decision making all the way to creativity.

From the video China has decided to chase the AI future, the technology that has being generated by another generation. What's real interesting is that China would have to catch up with the U.S. about 22% in 2025, that's not that far away. The way the world sees AI is that one day it's going to take jobs replacing the humans. For example grocery stores you can already notices that computers are taking over jobs for cashiers like self check out. According to App News " 2021 self checkout usage represented 30% of transactions, almost double from 2018. according to a survey of retailers". So shopping stores have self checkout with facial recognition were you pay for you'r groceries with your face

Yes, AI is a very serious matter due to the fact that students are using Artificial Intelligence to write there essays and do their homework for them. There is more negatives than positives I  would say if you have AI your in danger of your privacy being breached, job losses, security, displacement, unemployment etc. all your information is being recored all the way down from you're credit cards to were you'r living. On the other hand AI is breaking national security AI can cause threats like cyber attacks AI can model and identify the software system that can lead to major breaches in the system Onfido

Identity theft is the number one issue because anyone with a phone can take information from a random person off the street taking there name, social security number, phone number, address area code etc. All in all AI has taken over the world tremendously there's no way of stoping it now. The world is rapidly changing over the years Artificial Intelligence has taken the world and turned it around into one big social issue

Diffusion and Innovations Blog #8

 Diffusion and Innovations

Dating Apps Gary Kremen founded the Match.com the site was built as a pioneer of the online industry since 1955's. Back in the early days dating was in person no one person met through dating apps or online dates even being set up on blind dates that are always not that fun. Magdalene J. Taylor stated "The golden age of dating apps is over, "New York Times she had a friend tell tell her at at bar on Super bowl Sunday she was waiting for her drinks and had another friend swiping through bumble and all the other dating apps like hinge which I find very ironic because there could be two other guys at the same place and time swiping through their phones and they don't even look up to see each other. Dating apps haven't spread enough yet through the pioneers due to the fact dating was either shamed upon in the older generation or not as common but they still met face to face.

Due to the fact humans become early adapters is the fact in the New York Times"The internet, where so many of us spend so much time has not been spared from the decline in quality that seems to plague so much of consumer life" New York Times. I wouldn't say people are becoming late adapters due to the fact  because dating apps are well known possibly the older generation's like are grandparent's and parents etc.

Negative Affects of using dating apps in the danger just like the older generation they don't have experience on theses apps, meeting people naturally etc. But know dating apps our getting more common every day, There are more negative effects according to Utah State University" According to a 2013 Pew Internet study of adults using online dating, 42% of women reported having been contacted by someone who made them feel harassed or uncomfortable"Utah State University In general dating apps can put people in danger from meeting at a bar the thought in the back of there minds of either being kidnapped, harassed, followed or even much worse it may cause women to being rapped. According to Fortune.com " A survey conducted in 2019 founded that 31% of the women reported being sexually assaulted or raped by somone they had met through an online dating appFortune.

EOTO Presentation Reaction Blog #7

I found it really interesting Netflix was founded and invented by Marc Randolph in 1977 it was interesting because, when the invention launched in 1977 there was a DVD rental process that they charged a fee. Throughout the world people were able to select movies and shows and encounter the disc by mail, Netflix has been around for a while and I don't doubt that almost everyone has the site. Which is interesting due to the fact that Netflix was offered an online subscription service that was also introduced a flat-free unlimited rentals but you would have a week with them and the site now you can watch where and when ever you want with no problem. Netflix has taken over the world with amazing videos and tv shows worldwide. Mar Randolph is the inventor of the site and he has a lot to do with what goes behind the scenes, it's crazy to think that this turned from DVD players on a VCR to watching movies and shows on you phone computer and tv on your lap anywhere really.
